Russian Scientists Are On A Moon Mission…A Mock One At That!
Russia is now on a new mission to send its flight to moon. SIRIUS or the Scientific International Research in Unique Terrestrial Station is busy in structuring the complete mission at present. The mission has been started by 6 members from the institute. It was started on March 19, 2019 and will continue for 120 days. It is being carried out at Institute of Biomedical Problems (IBMP).
The experiment is led by Evgeny Tarelkin. This 44 years old cosmonaut from Russia has experience in carrying out 1 space mission. He has Daria Zhidova, Stephania Fedeye and Anastasia Stepnova from Russia, Reinhold Povilaitis and Allen Mirkadyrov from United States of America in his team.
Reinhold is an analyst in the department of research and operations at the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) mission of NASA. Allen is engaged in the Telecommunication Networks& Technologies Branch. He is presently working at the Goddard Space Flight Center of NASA. This is located at Greenbelt, Maryland. Christian Rogan is project manager for SIRIUS. He works at the Aerospace Center for Germany. DLR along with, NASA, CNES, a space agency in France and Roscosmos, the space agency from Russia are working on study of SIRIUS- 19 isolation.
Besides the other experiments, the crew from SIRIUS- 19 will also visit the moon. Just half- way through the isolation study of SIRIUS, 4 cosmonauts are supposed to land on moon’s surface in a tiny capsule. Rogon from DLR informed after they land on moon there will be several moonwalks to collect samples and arrange a shelter on the star.
2 cosmonauts are planned to stay back on the orbit of the lunar station. They are going to monitor the complete activity. After the other 4 cosmonauts return from moon, all 6 of them will again orbit the moon. This activity will last for 30 days.
